February 18 – HS Toronto Trip Meeting – following concert (8pm) – HS Auditorium

February 20 – All 7-12 bands to band festival at GHHS

February 25 – HS band concert – 7pm – HS auditorium

February 25 – Band Backer’s Monthly Meeting – after concert – HS band room

Fifth Grade Update

The Fifth Grade Band will now have their debut performance on Monday, February 18, 2013.

The concert is in the Spring Lake High School Auditorium at 7:00pm. Your child should arrive at 6:45pm and meet in the high school band room.

Your child should dress up to the best of their ability…please no jeans or shirts with writing on them. Collars for the boys would be nice.

After the fifth grade performs, the MIDDLE school bands will perform for no more than 25 minutes. We would ask that you stay for the rest of the concert as it’s great for the fifth graders to be inspired and it doesn’t seem right for a lot of people to walk out in the middle of the concert. Your children should put their instruments away and join you in the auditorium.

Concerts Rescheduled

Due to the ice day and the lack of rehearsals for both the fifth grade and high school bands, tonight’s concert is canceled. The fifth grade concert will take place next week Monday the 18th at 7pm at the High School Auditorium. The Middle School bands will perform after them (note the venue change for the MS concert). The HS concert will be rescheduled for a date we will decide on tomorrow. The HS Toronto meeting will still take place after the MS concert, but at 8:15pm in the HS Auditorium.

Fifth Grade Band Starts Next Week!

It was great to see so many people at the open house yesterday and meet many new faces! We’re excited about another great fifth grade band here at Spring Lake!
If you missed the parent open house, please go online to www.springlakebands.org (direct link to all fifth grade items – http://springlakebands.org/archives/category/bands/fifth-grade-beginning-band) and find your student’s instrument and the band informational packet that goes over the items that were presented on Thursday. Students need to have instruments and books on the week on September 17th. If you have a problem getting an instrument or book, please contact the band directors as soon as you can. The band schedule starting on Monday the 17th will be as follows:
Flutes come to band on Tuesday, Thursday and every other Friday 
Clarinets come to band on Tuesday, Thursday and every other Friday  – make sure you have reeds!
Trumpets come to band on Monday, Wednesday and every other Friday 
Trombones come to band on Monday, Wednesday and every other Friday 
Percussion comes to band on Monday, Thursday and every other Friday – percussion only needs to bring books and mallets at first.

The first Friday for Trumpets and Trombones is September 21st.  The first Friday for Flutes, Clarinets and Percussion is September 28th.
