Middle School Jazz Band 2013
JAZZ BAND
We’ve had a fair number of athletic conflicts this year with Jazz Band so we will not be playing at the spring concert on May 6th. We will still have two “out of the school day” performances which are listed below. We will also play for a lunch for the student body and plan a trip to Lloyd’s Bayou retirement home during the day. Those will be announced when the dates get closer. The dates below should go on your calendar now. I also picked some different days for rehearsal and extended them by 15 minutes so maybe we can get some of those who couldn’t do Mondays.
Thursday, May 16th – rehearsal at the Middle School – 3:45pm – 4:45pm
Monday, May 20th – rehearsal at the Middle School – 3:45pm – 4:45pm
Monday, June 3rd – rehearsal at the Middle School – 3:45pm – 4:45pm
May 23 – Fruitport Jazz Festival – Report Time 5:10pm – Perform at 5:30pm – Fruitport Band Shell
It’s at Pomona Park in “Downtown” Fruitport. You will get free food and a ride.
See Mr. G if you need directions to the band shell – you have to get yourself there!
Wear “Spring Lake” apparel.
Plus, it might rain so be prepared (our performance area is covered)
You MUST have your music in a binder and bring clothespins.
June 12 – Jazz Night with Walter White and the Small, Medium @ Large Big Band
Our jazz night is much later this year due to the fact that our guest artist is a FULL band! They are in Grand Rapids for the International Trumpet Guild conference and have agreed to also visit Spring Lake. This should be an exciting night. Put it on your calendar – more info to follow.
We will rehearse and have a clinic during the day so hopefully you can free up your time from noon on.

Jazz Band 2012
Jazz Band will be taking place every Monday afternoon from 4:00 – 5:15pm starting March 19, 2012. Students will be given a binder featuring all the music that we own for MS jazz band. We will choose 5 or so songs out of there to work on. It is imperative that these are kept in excellent condition and not lost or abused.
After school concerts include:
May 7 -Spring Band Concert – Spring Lake High School Auditorium
May 22- Jazz Night – Spring Lake High School Jazz Bands featuring the Paul Keller Trio and the “Hip Pocket” horns.
