Sixth Grade Band Book 2

This note went home on October 9, 2012.

Band Expressions Book 2

The time has come! We’re moving on to Book 2 of Band Expressions. We’ve ordered books for everyone in the sixth grade band and are eager to start using them. We ordered them in bulk from Meyer Music to save you a little bit of cash. Each book costs $9 and can be paid for by cash or check made out to Spring Lake Public Schools. The percussion books are $25 (which is a pretty good savings off of list price) and we also have some used ones available. One looks great ($15), four of them are used but complete ($10) and one has only half of the binding ($5). We also have 3 flute, 4 clarinet and 5 trumpet used books that we’ll sell for $5 each. Email Mr. Grevengoed if you want to purchase a used Book 2 – they are first come, first served.

Please have the money in by October 15th so we can get going with these new books!

Sixth Grade Band Handout

This went home on the first day of school….

————————-

This is a quick note to let you know that band started today, Tuesday, September 4th. You need to bring your instruments and Band Expressions Book 1 on the first days. After few months, we will be moving up to Book 2. We will buy them in bulk to get the best price, but we will need you to pay for them. We will keep you informed of when those books come in and how much they cost. The rotation for sixth grade is as follows: M, W – Brass and Percussion T, TH – Woodwinds F – Everybody! Please make sure your child has his/her instrument for class everyday that band is scheduled. Our two concerts this year are on December 3 and May 6. Please put them on your calendars. Many students who are interested in specialty instruments or saxophone have been asking about the timeframe for talking about that. We want to get rolling for about a couple months and then we’ll get into these discussions. Thanks for your patience! We’re looking forward to a great sixth grade band! Please feel free to contact us anytime to discuss your child’s progress or questions about band!

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT PLANNING ON CONTINUING

There are always those students who struggled or lacked desire to continue past fifth grade. We asked you to contact us over the summer if your child was not interested in playing during 6th grade. We haven’t heard from many and are excited to have a large group. If you forgot to contact us over the summer, please call or email us ASAP so we can find the correct class for your child.
